March 2007 UpdateMay 2nd, 2007I've taken up knitting, again, so I've been really bad about updating the site with pictures and stories. Nap time is only so long and I am so beat by the end of the night, I can barely keep my eyes open. I can't believe it's already May and I haven't done March yet. We started taking a gym class in March. A mom/tot deal where the two of us run around like monkeys and she gets to play on real gymnastics equipment. At the end of the first class, the teacher hooked the kids up to this contraption that went around their waist, and then he raised them up about 12 feet off the ground and gave 'em a good shove, swinging high above the mamas. I thought Mira would freak, but she swung like she'd been doing it forever. She likes to walk on the balance beam and climb over the little obstacle course they set up. Last month we graduated to the preschool class. All this means is she's with older kids, the class is longer, and I can't be out on the floor with her. But she absolutely loves it. I am really impressed with her listening skills - she follows the instructors directions like a big big girl! Oh, and we got her a couple of leotards for class as well. She'll 'practice' her 'kick outs' in the kitchen, instructing Mike and me to sit down because we 'don't have a leotard, so I have to practice!' Now that the weather has turned warmer, Mike's been riding his bike to work. The highlight of his day is when Mira and I meet him out on the path in front of our house. Mira will see daddy pedaling toward us and start running towards him, crying 'Daddy!!!' She then helps him push his bike the rest of the way home. The end of the trail isn't paved yet. It's just a rough trail and can get pretty muddy if it rains. One day, Mike took the curve onto the path a little too sharply and crashed (he was okay). When he caught up to us, he got off the bike to inspect it, turning the pedals, looking at the chain, the handlebars, just to make sure everything was okay. Mira watched him for a few minutes, then turned to her trike and began to inspect it, turning the pedals this way and that, just like daddy! I'm finally starting to show. I think I've only gained ten pounds or something like that. Now that the belly is getting more obvious, Mira has taken more interest in the baby. She cuddles the belly and smells it! And talks about 'when the baby plops out.' Really. And I don't know where she got that. Pretty cute though. She loves to help the midwives when we go in for our check up. She measures my belly and squirts the doptone goo on my belly, and even holds the doptone by herself. The midwives are great and love it when she helps. Early in the month we had the Denver crew up for a day of play and pizza. Mira really took to Eddie, making him put pony tails in her hair. She really enjoyed having so many people in the house - it felt a little bit like book club. She and Jordyn played really well together and I think Rudy had a good time too. That's about all I can remember from March. In the next few naps, I'll get April up too.
