October 2006 UpdateSo this month Mira turned two. And so far the terrible two's have not been that bad. She definitely wants to do things for herself these days - "Mia do it! Mia do it!" is one of her favorite things to say. And do it she does. She can put on her own shirt, socks (most times) and pants, though it's hard to pull them up over that substantial diaper butt. But, hey, if it wasn't for the cloth diapers, none of her clothes would fit. Much to my chagrin, she insists on taking stairs by herself, rarely holding on to a railing. I usually walk down in front her, hoping that I can catch her if she falls without falling myself. We've been really lucky with weather this month. Well, kinda lucky. There was a really really nice week towards the beginning of the month. Temps were in the 70's and 80's there for a few days. We were able to go for a bike ride to a favorite park and then we went out to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum for a little hiking. The first three pictures were taken there. What a gorgeous day that was. The leaves were just beginning to turn and the lady bugs were out in force. Then of course the weather turned cold. Very very cold. And indoors we went. No real snow yet though. We started going to an art class this month and Mira loves it. The first week was finger painting, then just regular painting, then stamping, collage, and last week was moveable art. The kids got to work with things like paper towel rolls with holes punched in them. They poked pipe cleaners through the holes and stuck feathers in straws. And of course there were lots and lots of stickers. And Mira really likes the glue. Her second favorite thing to say is "I want to daw, mama!" My friend Robyn signed her son up as well and so we meet them before class at a kid-friendly coffee shop for breakfast before class. Mira and Gavin love it and know that they get to play with each other on Friday mornings. Oh and she can count to fourteen, though she skips one and eleven and twelve. But still she gets up there. We did take Mira trick or treating this year. Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the page to check out the Polar Princess. I made the mistake of buying candy for the trick or treaters two weeks before Halloween. Now, many of you may not know that I quit drinking coffee a few weeks back. And many of you probably know that chocolate does contain some caffeine, a fact I am well aware of. However, I did not realize that my body was so starved for caffeine that I re-addicted myself by eating just a few mini chocolate bars a day. Don't let Mike tell you differently - it was just a couple! I swear! I finally had to give the leftovers to my friend Amy (Mike almost divorced me over that one). And the three day headache that ensued was a huge bummer. And you'll have to check out this page for Mira's 2nd Birthday.
