August 2006 Update

Once again, I am doing this in the middle of September and I can't remember anything from August. I wrote a note that she says Please and Thank you pretty consistently. And when she says Thank you, it sounds a little like Mork from Mork and Mindy? Remember that? Perhaps this fall's fashion will jog your memory. It seems we have arrived again in the 80's and I would rather we just sail on past without revisiting the oh so funky styles from my angst ridden pre-teen years. Duran Duran, anyone?

We recently joined the Children's Museum - a wonderful place to just let Mira be. There's a great indoor little activity area for kids under 4 with small tunnels, rope stairs and a slide. I heard her say 'slide down' for the first time this month as she was, of course, sliding down the slide. There's also a gallery that is set up like everyday environments. We stopped in the 'grocery store' and Mira put EVERYTHING she could into her basket. We then went to the check out and she climbed up on the stool behind the register and began to ring up our stuff! It was so cute to see her slide the laminated paper money through the register just like in 'real life.'

There's another super playground we go to sometimes. It's about a thirty minute drive, so we don't go often. But when we do get there, Mira has a blast. Follow the link and scroll down to see a picture of the play area. There are rope ladders that go all the way to the top and the last time we took her there, she climbed them. All of them. By herself (I was behind her the whole time, don't worry.)

Mira's Auntie Melissa came to see us at the end of October and she had a great time with her! We all went to the airport to pick her up Friday night, way past Mira's bedtime, but she was a trooper and did great. The next morning we went to the Farmer's Market to see Oma, the Library, and then had lunch at the Local. Home for a nap, then a trip to the park. Sunday was more trips to the park, dinner at Pepitos, and ice cream at the Pump House Creamery. Mike had to work Monday, but we girls went to the Childrens Museum and had a blast. I know Mira and I really enjoyed 'Lissa's visit - I hope she did as well (even though I didn't feed her Monday before her flight!).
