June 2006 Update

First, I redesigned the site in such a way that, hopefully, those of you with dial up will have something to read while the pictures and gifs load. If pictures still load before the text, well, grab a cup of joe, or a beer and stop back in a minute.

Well, it's official. Mike and I are hosed for good. Mira has learned how to say please. I hope that we can get it on video because I have never seen anything so cute as her saying "Pease" while making the sign as well. If she really wants something, she'll add "Yahhh!" as well. So, can you see it now? "Mom can I have some crack, pease, yah!" Of course you can, dear!

We had to go to Nordstrom's earlier this month to exchange her sandals. Apparently, Mira has the narrowest ankles and feet ever imagined and there are virtually no shoes that fit well. The shoe department was great though, and took the sandals back no questions asked. While we were there, we were able to take advantage of their half year sale. Mira's a good study as you can clearly see her examining the tag and dress in the top picture.

When I was pregnant, I vowed that Mira would not watch tv, ever. HAH! I have several DVD's of Sesame Street and Elmo and the like that I have used in times of crisis. Well, now that she can say please and remembers that oh yeah, that fun box turns ON, she's been watching the dvds for a little bit every day. I love how she asks to watch E.T.C. (Learning About Letters), or now Elmo-mo. And she loves the Honkers, loves to honk her own nose. TV is evil, but it's Tour month so it ain' t going anywhere. And I have to admit, I enjoy the extra half hour of semi-free time. AND she does seem to be learning her letters and numbers. I swear she can count to three.

However, Snoopy Come Home had to disappear. Perhaps you may remember the story line. Poor Snoopy gets kicked off the Beach, out of the Library, and runs away. Well, we got to the scene in the library where Snoopy is just laughing away at a book that he's reading and of course, the evil librarian kicks him out, the poor dog. At this point, Mira just started to cry, she was heartbroken that anyone would be kicked out of the library. We tried to watch it again, but she cried even before we got to the library scene. So, anyone want to borrow the snoopy dvd?

During our last ECFE class, we would have free play time, then clean up and snack, and then more play time. We'd sing "clean up, clean up, everybody clean up" after the free play time in prep for snack time. The other day, after a particularly messy lunch, Mira started to sing "clean up clean up!" She really likes to help me clean, cook, fold laundry. Of course it takes much longer to do anything, but still, it's fun.

And she's continuing to work on potty training. Again, we are not pressuring her to perform, though I'm sure she can sense our excitement when she does pee in her potty, but I try to say good job whenever or wherever she goes. Lately, before she poops, she'll say dirty! I'll ask her if she wants to sit on her potty and sometimes she does, sometimes not. The other day after lunch, she said dirty and sat on her chair and pooped! I was so proud! It's so early, I'm sure we'll completely regress soon.

I also bought Mira her first set of paints and paint brushes. Oh did she have fun. Once the paper was filled up, she moved on to her toes, then her feet, then legs, belly, arms, face and hair! However, paint up the nose doesn't feel so good, so off to an emergency bath we went. But it was so much fun to watch!
