March 2006 Update

Last night Mira slept through the night. Not just the measly five straight hours that is 'technically' considered sleeping through the night, but a whopping eleven and a half hours. Straight. In her bed. Alone. Did you get that? From 7:30 at night, to 7:00 in the morning! Oh, dear God, I hope I remember EXACTLY what I did last night. I hope it wasn't a fluke!

Oma visited the first weekend in March and Mira was really showing off! She tried out lots of new words and signs. She did help, apple, bananna - all for the first time Friday night! Her favorite word is still 'daht.' She'll point and say 'daht' and I'll name it - and this will go on for several dahts about the same thing.

Mira also out-grew her highchair, emotionally, and so we bought her a booster seat. She immediately tried to climb up into her new booster chair, had to think about it for a while, start, stop, start again. Then once she did it, she sat down, threw up her arms and clapped and yelled! So proud of herself!

Yesterday we went to the Children's Museum with Amy and Mira had a blast. Then, after dinner and a bath, she was having trouble going to sleep, so I said - it's hard to go to sleep when we've had such a fun and exciting day. and she nodded yes! Then I said - we'll have another fun and exciting day tomorrow and she nodded yes again. So sweet.

We've gone on lots of adventures this month. Early in the month, we had a huge snow storm and so walked down to the falls to see the ice and snow before it all melted. We went to the Como Conservatory to get a sneak peak at spring and spring colors. It was amazing, and packed. As we walked into the Sunken Garden, the colors just screamed at us! Oh, it felt so good to see yellow and purple and pink and blue blossoms all around us! Mike took her hiking a couple of times - as long as I'm not around, she loves to ride in the backpack.

Have you noticed a theme running throughout these pictures? I finally let Mira climb up onto a chair to "help" me cook and do dishes. She, obviously, loves it! After she fell a couple of times, I broke down and bought the Learning Tower for her! She loves the learning tower, and now I can concentrate more fully on not burning dinner or the house down.
