Cuddlebug's January 2006 Photos

January 2006 Update

Well, I've been very quiet lately. Been learning some keen stuff on photo editing, so that's taken up most of nap-time. But I'm back, kind of. Now I want to start on the great Mira's first year photo project - sifting through all the pictures, choosing the best, touching them up, and then printing them for her photo album. So much to do. So little time.

This has been a fun month. The weather has been very mild so we've been able to go for walks. My friend Amy's gone back to work part time and I've been watching Greta for about an hour once a week. Mira is very interested in the baby and loves to stroke her head. She also wants to poke her in the eyes, so we have to work on 'gentle.'

Mira is talking more and more, kind of. She's practicing words and often I'll say a word and she'll say something right back and it will kind of sound like what I said. Either way, it's lots of fun. She knows the meaning of tons of words though and I swear she can understand most of what we say. I wrote down some of her new words on my dry erase calendar, but Mira erased it. Oh well. Her signs are coming along as well. Her most recent sign is for bath.

Mike's birthday is next week and I think we are going to try to go out for dinner. Leave Mira with Don and Amy. It's pretty shocking that we haven't really done anything without her since she's been born! But dinner, a menu, time to leisurely choose what to eat, time to leisurely eat my food - I can hardly wait!

Other Mira accomplishments - she's walking so well these days, but no running yet. She likes to climb stuff. I bought her this little table toy for Christmas and she loves to climb up in it. While I cook, I'll pull out a drawer and put it on the floor to buy some time and Mira loves to empty the contents then sit in the drawer. And she's getting really good about dressing herself, with help of course, but she can zip up her own jacket, put her arms through the sleeves, and is very good about taking off shirts, socks, pants, and especially diapers. She likes to eat just about anything. Doesn't care for green beans, but loves peas, corn, carrots, spicy pulled pork, ham. Doesn't like my pancakes - this will have to change at some point - Saturday is PANCAKE day! Loves pizza, ovs (olives), mushrooms, pepperoni.

Mira is also beginning to 'help' around the house. As you can see below, she likes to help dado0 put the beer away. Of course the last one she runs off with - a well earned prize! If you give her a wipe or wet cloth she likes to clean the floor and whenever we sweep the kitchen floor, which isn't often I'm afraid, she'll grab her little broom and 'help.' She now puts her laundry away, sort of. The bottom drawer of the dresser is for her stuff that doesn't have to be folded - jammies, jeans, jackets and the like. If I ask her to put away her clean clothes, in they go, until the last item. Then it's out with everything and do it all again!
