Cuddlebug's December 2005 Photos

December 2005 Update

Well, December was quite colder than normal, I think. Though I guess I'm not one to trust on this since anything below 60 degrees is cold to me. However, in an attempt to survive the winter, I'm determined to go for a walk, no matter how short, everyday. As long as it's above 20 degrees. Any colder than that and I get cranky. Here's Mira all bundled up in her 30 to 20 degree gear.

I just love this picture of her with the sunlight shining on her. We get so few sunny days in the winter - ugh. This month has been really fun when it comes to food. She's eating just about everything we eat and she's getting really good with a spoon. She can scoop food out of her bowl with her spoon and feed herself. She doesn't drop much on the way, either. I'll let her goof around with her food once she's done while I wash up the dishes (from lunch). Dinner is a little different. She doesn't like Momma and daddy to talk. So it's usually right off to bathtime after she's done eating.

This month she also understands more and more language. I'll ask her to hang up her picture on the fridge with the magnets and she does, ask her to go pick out another book and she does, blow her nose and she tries. Amy and I went for a walk yesterday and I was telling her how Mira will pull her hat off, but that I'm working on her keeping it on while outside. I said to Amy, watch, she'll take her hat off because we are talking about it and sure enough she did.

This was taken on Pizza night a few weeks ago. To do anything, I have to let her make a mess. It feels like my day consists of cleaning up a series of sanctioned messes so that I can get something done.

She's also beginning to figure out how to undress herself. Right now, if I pull one arm out of its sleeve, she can get the shirt over her head and almost get the other arm out. Of course for a while now, she's had great fun taking off her socks!

Time for Bed

December 15th, 2005

Tonight I was trying to help Mira go to sleep and she was having a hard time. Mostly, I think, because she had a nasty case of the hiccups. I put her on my chest because that is a good position for her to fall asleep in - though it's hard to then get her off my chest and onto the bed without her waking. That seemed to be working until she abruptly sat up. I said, "no, honey, put your head on my chest". But she didn't want to. I tried a couple more times to get her to lay back down on my chest, then she took my hand and put it on my chest and I realized she had spit-up. She was saying "no, daddy, I don't want to put my head in spit-up!" I said, "oh, sweetheart, I'm sorry!" And I took off my shirt. She immediately lay back down on my chest. In a few more minutes she was asleep.

So today I was playing with Mira. I'd put her hat on and she'd take it off, put it on, take it off, put it on take it off and the last time she took it off she said "OFF!" Mike and mom heard her say nanner last weekend, but this is the first word, other than Hi, I've heard her say.

The other thing she did today was stand up from a sitting position. She's been pulling herself up by grabbing onto tables, chairs, legs, but hasn't stood unassisted until today. So it was a big day for us here in the frozen tundra.

And I made the hat - isn't it cute?!?
