November 2005 UpdateDecember 1st, 2005Let's see... What's been going on this month? We've been blessed with a relatively mild November so Mira and I were able to talk some good walks this month. The fall colors were absolutely beautiful! I guess that's one good reason we live here - it can be stunningly beautiful. For those of you who have suffered my kvetching about sleep, we've made some progress over the last couple of weeks. We began to wean Mira from one night feeding. She'd wake up and was used to nursing back to sleep, so we decided that we'd try to cut out the 1:00 feeding. Boy was she mad those first few nights, but now she's able to settle herself without too much fuss. My friend Amy has been home with her little one Greta, so we've been able to go for a couple of walks and she took me out to lunch for my birthday! We walked down to the corner coffee shop and had a great pasta salad AND dessert! Whoopee! Yesterday we went to Kohl's and did some Christmas shopping - I couldn't have done it without her. Greta slept the whole time, and Amy entertained Mira and held stuff for me. We've continued with the Pizza Night tradition begat from Matt. And the dough keeps getting better - I let it rise for a really really long time. Makes a great chewy crust. If only I had a pizza stone and a real, industrial strength oven, I'd take over the pizza world. Going through all of the pictures for this month, many of them were of Messy Mira eating her heart out. She LOVES sour cream, butter, cheese - my little dairy girl. I made a vegetarian chili a few nights ago and she's been eating that like a champ. I, of course, put jalapeno peppers on my chili, burritos, eggs, cake, and she's been screeching to try them. I've held fast though, she'll not have peppers before she's ready. Big food milestone this month, we had honey on our hot cereal this week. We took Mira sledding for the first time last week. It snowed the day after Thanksgiving, so we took Baden, Bronagh and Mira down to the park for a ride. Mike took Baden down the big hill, all the way from the top for his first ride! Mira went down on my lap and then we took the sled down the smaller hill. She looked at us like we were nuts, but I think they had a great time. Have I told you that she's started to shake her head no? It's the cutest thing in the world. She says no to just about everything, even ice cream and cookies. That's Chris holding the girls, Mira and Bronagh. And more food pictures. I think I turned my head for a moment and the cottage cheese went everywhere.
