January 2005 Update

Apparently, I was too busy last January to write in my Journal. I do remember we had a cold snap and I didn't leave the house for a week and a half. Don't worry; I did shower occasionally during that cloistered time.

You can tell that she's still jaundiced a wee bit. People used to say she had such good color - I hated to tell them why. I had taken her into the doctor at some point in December because I thought the jaundice was getting worse. When the nurse stuck her foot, oh did she cry! It was so awful I just sat there and bawled with her. Turns out her levels were okay, but my guilt levels had skyrocketed.

Early in the month I finished the Jean Auel series. I was still reading a ton during her naps. We'd just sit in the sun, she'd snooze and I'd read. After the Auel series, I began my Project Clear Shelf - I was going to read every single book that I had not read yet, from a to z. I read Isabel Allende's Daughter of Fortune and Portrait in Sepia. Both were very good.

How's Project Clear Shelf going now you ask??? I gave up after the B's. I hate to structure my reading so much. I'm amazed that I'm still in a book club.

Mira was still wearing her hip harness at this point, but in early January she only had to sleep in it. And as it interferred with sleep, we slowly stopped doing that - good thing her hips straightened them out by themselves!
